CBS held a Republican debate this weekend (I didn't watch it either), and is coming under fire because a few of the candidates didn't get as much airtime as others. That, and their news director sent out a memo to his staff dissing Michele Bachman as inconsequential, and saying that she wasn't going to get as many questions as the other candidates.
He didn't realize, however, that one of Bachman's staffers was on the e-mail chain.
Oops.
I can understand why the Bachman campaign is upset, but let's face it, this is not exactly a liberal media conspiracy. The exact same discussions undoubtedly were occurring during the last presidential election when people like Chris Dodd and Al Sharpton were on the stage with Obama and Clinton. Is it fair not to give everyone exactly the same amount of time? No, it's not. Is it fair to make everyone listen to the people that have no chance of winning as much as the two or three that have a legitimate shot (based on hundreds and hundreds of polls)? No, it's not.
You have to pick your poison sometimes.
