King is not just one of the most prolific authors of all time. He's also a radio station owner. From this morning's Tom Taylor column at Radio-Info.com...
Station owner Stephen King says “We’d like to burn some feet once in a while…maybe make some people a little bit angry.” After all – the best-selling author who owns stations in his hometown of Bangor, Maine doesn’t have to worry too much about client cancellations, or making next month’s payroll. He’s already in a good position to back a progressive-talk AM/FM combo, and now “Pulse” WZON-AM/FM (620/103.1) is creating a new liberal-leaning morning drive show. The partners are former gubernatorial candidate, Daily News columnist and radio talker Pat LaMarche. She previously did radio in Portland at WGAN and in Augusta. And former reporter and Secretary of State communications director Don Cookson. The Daily News covers yesterday's rare Stephen King press conference and shares some quotes from LaMarche - “Nothing is more fun than standing up to a bully…there’s an awful lot of bullying going on out there right now." And King himself - “We’re going to try to be informative. We’re gonna be provocative. We’re going to be amusing, and we’re going to try to be a positive community force.”
Sounds like an interesting experiment.
