"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple."
He said he'd like to stay on as Chairman, but it sounds like his health issues are pretty serious. That's sad to hear.
As for Apple, they may find someone to handle the business side of what he did, but it's hard to imagine that they'll be able to replace his vision. Someone like him comes along about once in a generation.
