Shrinking Cross Illusion

David Cherry (whose Unreal Movement Triangles we already covered) created something we haven’t had the opportunity to see for quite some time now. His “animation” effect works flawlessly! In order for you to see the effect in its full glory, I was forced to edit David’s original attachment, yet it’s still available if you click on the picture and open it full size. Am I imagining things, or does the phantom cross really appear to continuously shrink?

Duracell Powered Dancing Snakes

Duracell has always been creative when it comes to marketing their own products. Their latest campaign (at least when it comes illusion related advertising), combines the relatively known rotating snakes pattern (invented by professor Akiyoshi Kitaoka) with the “endless” power Duracell’s batteries supposedly provide. I love these kind of billboards, as they often turn out very intelligent!

Rotating Core Illusion

Look into the centre (white point) and stare for a while. How many colours can you see altogether in the object? You should see a purplish circle... and the 4 rotating 'wings' are tinted green. Make sure you always keep focused on the centre.
Once you've done this, read on...

Are those four wings really green? Amazingly, they are exactly the same colour as the circle inside. Don't believe me? Well try following one of the wings round. You'll see that the colour matches the inner circle perfectly

Spinning Cat Optical Illusion - Rotating/Moving Cat Illusion

I Have posted this illusion earlier before, but I am posting it again because of some personal reasons :)

This illusions is simple – all you have to do is see the cat rotate in both directions. At first you may think it’s impossible, but after some practice you’ll soon be able to switch the direction with each round. I’m also interested to hear your comments about the original direction you saw the cat spin at? When I first saw this, it appeared to move clockwise. Now each time I see it – it’s just the opposite (concentrate on it’s tale to switch).
