Farrah Fawcett 'not at death's door'LA Now reports that her friend/producer
Craig Nevius confirmed Monday to Associated Press that the 62-year-old "Charlie's Angels" star has been hospitalized for a blood clot, a side effect of treatment she underwent in Germany. But she's not near death.
"She's doing fantastic," Nevius said. "Her fight goes on. ... She's not going anywhere anytime soon."
He added: "As previously reported by everybody, she's not unconscious. She is not on death's door. The family has not gathered to say goodbye."
This guy is producing Fawcett's documentary chronicling her fight against cancer, called "A Wing and a Prayer." The actress was diagnosed with the disease in late 2006. She had chemotherapy and radiation and was in remission in early 2007. However, a few months later, her cancer returned. She eventually pursued alternative therapy abroad.
Fawcett's doctor, Lawrence Piro, said that Fawcett had abdominal bleeding and a hematoma after undergoing aggressive alternative cancer treatments in Germany.
Piro released a statement to the AP that Fawcett was using a wheelchair because it was painful for her to walk. "That pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer. She remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor. She's been in great shape her whole life and has an incredible resolve and an incredible resilience."
People reports that Farrah's friend Alana Stewart was with her on Saturday night. "Farrah's spirits are amazing. She has been amazing through this whole ordeal."
One report, however, does hold true. Redmond O'Neal, Fawcett's son with Ryan O'Neal, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility and was being held on $25,000 bail.
A deputy was doing a security sweep of the Castaic jail's parking lot when he stopped Redmond, who admitted he was carrying drugs, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.
Producer Says Fawcett's Cancer Has Spread
Just moments after a report claiming that actress Farrah Fawcett was "doing fantastic" despite being hospitalized, now comes word that her cancer has reportedly spread to her liver.
Fawcett, who has been battling anal cancer since 2006, has been hospitalized for days. While the details of why she was hospitalized have been spotty, producer Craig Nevius has confirmed that in 2007, scans showed that Fawcett's cancer had spread. "Not only had it recurred, it metastasized to her liver," Nevius told The Associated Press on Monday.
Still, Nevius urges that the 'Charlie's Angels' starlet is "not on death's door."
"She had a minor procedure. That procedure led to a small amount of bleeding into a muscle in her abdominal wall," according to Fawcett's oncologist, Dr. Lawrence Piro. According to Piro, Fawcett is "on the mend and will be going home very shortly," and that she "remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humor."
Longtime lover Ryan O'Neal echoes similar sentiments. He told the New York Post that Fawcett was "in for a procedure, she'll be out. This is not at death's door. Pray for her. That's all I can say."
MSNBC reported that some friends are less optimistic. "She's a fighter, but we get the sense she knows the end is coming," said one source. "But we're all still praying for a miracle."
Fawcett has been fighting rectal cancer since her diagnosis in 2006. Though she was diagnosed free of cancer, the disease has returned. She has recently undergone experimental stem-cell treatment in Germany.
